Overview

Spend your summer making a real impact with our Summer Teach Thailand Program – a short-term, paid teaching experience designed to fit perfectly into a university break or summer holidays. Over 7 weeks, you’ll start with a 1-week in-country orientation in Hua Hin, where you’ll settle in, meet your cohort, get classroom-ready and dive into Thai culture.

After orientation, you’ll move on to 6 weeks of paid teaching at one of our trusted partner schools across Thailand. You’ll gain real classroom experience, build your confidence as a teacher, and experience everyday life in Thailand far beyond the usual tourist trail – all while having weekends and free time to explore beaches, markets, temples and national parks.

Teachers on this program earn a monthly stipend of approximately $900–$1,200 USD, paid in Thai Baht, which is typically enough to cover local living costs such as accommodation, food and transport. Please note: your final earnings in your home currency may vary slightly due to exchange rate fluctuations, as salaries are paid in local currency.

With two start dates in June 2026, this program is ideal if you’re keen to teach abroad, gain international experience and travel, without committing to a full academic year.

The program runs for 7 weeks total. You’ll start with a 1-week in-country orientation in Hua Hin, followed by 6 weeks of teaching at a local partner school somewhere in Thailand. For 2026, there are two intakes: 1 June – 17 July and 22 June – 7 August, so you can choose the option that best fits your summer break.

You’ll earn a monthly stipend of approximately $900–$1,200 USD, paid in Thai Baht. This is typically enough to cover local living costs such as rent, food, and transport, with some budget left for weekend activities and short trips.
Please note: your earnings in your home currency may vary slightly because salaries are paid in local currency and exchange rates can fluctuate.
You don’t need prior teaching experience, but you do need to be qualified to teach English. If your degree is not in Education, you’ll need a 120-hour TEFL certificate. You can either complete one you already have, or choose the Online TEFL + Placement option to get certified before you go. If you have an Education degree, you can usually join through the Placement Only route.
Orientation takes place in Hua Hin, and placements are at partner schools across Thailand – these may be in smaller towns, suburban areas, or regional cities. You’re welcome to share your preferences, and the team will do their best to take them into account, but placements are ultimately based on school availability and matching. The goal is always to place you somewhere safe, supportive, and suitable for a short-term summer program.
You’ll receive step-by-step pre-departure guidance on visas, documents, flights, and what to pack. Once in Thailand, you’ll attend a 1-week orientation to help you settle in, get classroom-ready, and connect with other teachers. Throughout your placement, you’ll have on-the-ground support from staff who’ve taught abroad themselves, so you’ll always have someone to reach out to if you need help or advice.
Absolutely. Thailand is known for its friendly and respectful culture, especially toward English teachers, who are well-regarded in schools and local communities. While infrastructure may vary, TravelBud provides orientation and ongoing support to help you settle securely.
