Requirements

This opportunity is for travellers aged 18-26, with a passport from the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and the EU. A TEFL is preferred but not required.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: 18-26
  • Native English speaker: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, EU or South African citizenship. Non-native speakers eligible as long as they have at least a B2 level of English.
  • Clean criminal background check
  • In good health

Typical Day at Camp

A normal working week is 5.5 days and the days are usually split into hourly sessions with breaks in between.

You can also expect to accompany students on exciting day trips and excursions after lessons.

What’s Included in Summer Camp program?

Your journey to summer camp includes all your pre-departure guidance from a skilled team, as well as amazing perks such as shared accommodation, your meals during camp, your medical insurance, and your $2250USD stipend. Camp counsellors will often accompany their enthusiastic campers to awesome activities outside of camp.

Shared Accommodation is included in your 6-week placement. It is on a university campus, sharing with other instructors

Full assistance with your visa to travel to the USA/ Canada. USA-based camp leaders will go over on the J1 visa, and Canada-based leaders will go over on a temporary work permit.

How to Join our Epic Summer Camps in 2026

We know the idea of traveling abroad can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve broken it down into a few simple steps so that you can skip the stress and head straight to the adventure.

Submit a Basic Application

In this step, you'll be asked a few questions on the basic application form. You'll also need to submit your self-introduction video telling us why you're a good fit!

Speak with a team member at TravelBud

Book a quick call with one of our dynamic team members to discuss the details of your adventure and get you started on the next steps. If you pass this initial screening, you'll be able to get enrolled!

Officially Enroll with TravelBud

Once you're initially accepted onto the program, you can get officially enrolled. You'll settle your $99USD enrolment fee. This fee is refundable if you are later not accepted onto the program. If you are accepted, we'll move you on to the next steps.

Partner Interviews & Pre-departure Support

Our incredible partners for our Summer Camp Programs will complete the process of interviews and screening with you. Once officially accepted, you'll get hands-on pre-departure support for document collection and visa processes.

Eligibility Requirements

You don’t need to have any teaching experience to join our Summer Camps program

But, what you do need is:
Be a native English speaker with USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, EU or South African citizenship. Non-native speakers eligible as long as you have at least a B2 level of English.
Be between the age of 18-26 years old.
Have a clean criminal background check.

Be in good health.

TravelBud’s Summer Camps Program offers a 6-week paid teaching placement at international English-language summer camps in the USA or Canada, followed by up to 30 days of travel. You’ll live on a university campus, work with international youth, and gain valuable intercultural and teaching experience - all in an exciting, supportive environment.
Placements are available in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Orlando in the USA, and in Toronto and Vancouver in Canada. You’ll live and work on university campuses in these major cities, making it easy to explore during your off time.

No, a TEFL certificate is not required, but it is highly recommended. TravelBud offers an optional 120-hour online TEFL/TESOL certification for $499 USD. This can help you feel more prepared and strengthen future job prospects after the program.

You’ll earn a $2,250 USD stipend for the 6-week camp. The program also includes accommodation, meals, and basic medical insurance. After camp, you'll have an extra 30 days to travel on your J-1 visa (USA) or equivalent Canadian permit.

You must be between 18 and 26 years old, have experience working with children, strong group management skills, and be comfortable in fast-paced, hands-on environments. A self-introduction video is part of your application. Most participants come from English-speaking countries, but others may apply depending on visa requirements.

The next intake starts June 1, 2026, and includes 6 weeks of camp plus 30 days of optional travel. The enrollment deadline is January 31, 2026, but you’re encouraged to apply early due to high demand and visa processing time. The full application includes an interview, paperwork, visa assistance, and final placement confirmation.
