Thailand Buddhism Immersion Program

In collaboration with our trusted partners at the Centre for Global Citizenship Studies (CGCS), TravelBud offers a one-of-a-kind, short-term program in the Land of Smiles. The Buddhism Immersion Program allows participants to garner in-depth knowledge about the practices of Buddhism. The Buddhist principle teaches one to avoid extremes and emphasizes personal well-being above material achievements.

Buddhism has a major influence on the daily lives of Thai people and is practiced throughout the normal course of life. With 98% of the Thai population practicing Buddhism, it makes it the perfect place for a unique experience for those around the world looking to expand their knowledge of Buddhist practices, employ an array of transferrable skills and most importantly, make an impact in this program that heroes meaningful travel.

Diploma in International Volunteering

Eligibility Requirements

You don’t need to have any teaching experience to join our Buddhism Immersion program in Thailand. 

But, what you do need is:

A Native English Speaker from any country at a B2 proficiency level.

Be between the age of 18-65 years old.
Have a clean criminal background check.

No, the program is open to people of all faiths or none. You don’t need to be Buddhist or have any prior knowledge of Buddhism. The experience is designed for those interested in learning about Buddhist culture, mindfulness, and ethical living through direct interaction and cultural exchange in Thai temples.

To join the program, you must be:

  • 18–65 years old

  • A native English speaker or the ability to speak English at a B2 proficiency level

  • In good health

  • Able to pass a criminal background check

Friends and couples can apply together and be placed at the same site.

The program includes:

  • A Diploma in International Volunteering with a focus on Global Citizenship

  • A 60-hour TEFL course

  • A 20-hour online cultural orientation

  • Shared accommodation, airport pickup, and a two-day in-person orientation

  • Volunteer teaching placement and 24/7 in-country support

Private accommodation is available for an additional fee.

You’ll teach English in temples, temple schools, orphanages, and underprivileged schools in and around Hua Hin. Participants also join monks in their daily routines, take part in ceremonies and meditations, and may spend overnights in temples as part of the immersion. It’s a blend of cultural exploration and meaningful impact.

Start dates are available year-round, but the application deadline is 3 months before your chosen intake. After applying, you'll:

  1. Pay a deposit to secure your spot

  2. Complete your diploma online (6 weeks before departure)

  3. Receive full visa and pre-departure support

  4. Arrive in Thailand for your in-person orientation

We recommend budgeting about $750 USD for every 4 weeks of your stay (excluding flights, visa, and insurance).
