Lauren, Hillary and Sara, 3 young and adventurous women in their mid-20's, go into detail explaining why exactly they have loved their time teaching English in Thailand so far. They had no clue whatsoever what to expect when packing their bags and departing from the USA to the foreign Kingdom of Thailand but they have loved every minute of it. They explain what led them to embarking on this adventure as well as the world they left behind back home in America.

The 3 girls reveal exactly what has stood out to them so far living in Thailand and completing the 4-week TESOL course in the beach town of Hua Hin, Thailand. They talk about their TESOL instructor and what they have learned in the course as well as exactly why this experience is so beneficial to people caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle of life back home in the Western world.
If you've been to Thailand before you would have noticed just how generous and hospitable the local Thai people are to the visitors to their country. What you will come to realise when becoming an English teacher in Thailand is just how respected and appreciated English teachers are in Thailand.
Lauren elaborates on the kind-hearted and generous characteristics of Thais: "People from Thailand are the kindest people I have ever met in my life. They are so generous so I am learning lessons about thinking about everybody else before myself".
Hillary adds to this, "Thais are just known for going out of their way and the demeanour is very different and very respectful (to how it is in Western countries)".

Whether you have an educational or teaching background or not, everyone is required to first complete a 120-hour TESOL course prior to receiving a job placement at a school in Thailand. The particular course that Sara, Lauren, and Hillary completed was a 120-hour in-class TESOL which takes place every month in the tropical beach town of Hua Hin, just 3 hours south of Bangkok.
Here they first underwent 5 days of Thai cultural orientation to help them immerse themselves into the Thai culture and overcome culture shock. This included various lessons on Thai culture, politics, history, language, geography and traditions as well many fun cultural excursions to the likes of Buddhist temples, Muay Thai classes, pineapple plantations, artist villages, and the Rescue Paws animal rescue and rehabilitation centre.
The following 3 weeks included various lessons on lesson plan construction and presentation in a Thai classroom setting, 2 days of real teaching experience at a local school in Hua Hin, and various other lessons on classroom management, lesson plans for teaching English speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
TESOL students would construct their lesson plans in homework time and then present them to the class the next day and receive quality feedback and constructive criticism from their TESOL instructors and peers. Lauren, Hillary, and Sara all had Jon Harman as a TESOL instructor and absolutely loved him!
This TESOL course is particularly tailored for preparing TESOL participants to teach in Thailand so it has many benefits the other generic TESOL courses out there which can is quite obvious by the way in which these 3 girls rave about the course.
"Not knowing what's gonna happen next is daunting but it's equally as exciting, or if not more so, it's more exciting!" - Hillary
Lauren, Hillary and Sara are currently all teaching English to High School students in Samchok School in Pathum Thani, Thailand. Just like the other English teachers in Thailand, the 3 musketeers are immersing themselves in the foreign culture, growing and testing their comfort zones every day, and doing an exceptional job giving back to the local community through the act of teaching English to the children of Thailand.
A massive thanks to these girls for sharing why teaching in Thailand can change your life forever. We wish you all the best for the remainder of your stay in Thailand!
